ABOUT

RENE CASTELLANOS.
René’s fondness for images began in childhood when his father forced him
to work in a photo lab that his family owned in a popular neighborhood in the city of Bogotá. There, René passed the time watching hundreds of images of strangers who had entrusted the development of their photographs to this family business. In his downtime, he also observed clients who came for portraits and photography sessions in the shop studio.
After completing his studies in Cinema and Photography , René Castellanos began his career doing several cultural programs for "Señal Colombia" (Colombian Public Television).
He has directed various short films, including "All For Love", a one-minute film which won the "IMAGINATON 2006" first prize; and "I MAKE PEACE," winner of the "COMUNICA EN PAZ 2014", contest organized by the National University of Colombia and supported by the Colombian Ministry of Culture.
His first work for the big screen was as Director of Photography on the feature film "SILENCIO EN EL PARAISO", (Silence in Paradise), released in 2011.
In 2013 he repeated his DP role in the movie "LA JUSTA MEDIDA" (The Right Size) by the Colombian director Colbert García.
In 2015 René launched his first feature film as director, "EL ULTIMO ALIENTO"
(The last breath).
René is currently working on the screenplay for his second movie, which is expecting to be launched in 2017.
